Baked Curry Pan (Kare Pan)

A healthier, oven-baked version of the classic Japanese snack featuring savory curry filling inside a soft bread roll with a crunchy panko topping.

Ingredients

  • 250 g Bread flour
  • 5 g Instant yeast
  • 20 g Sugar
  • 4 g Salt
  • 160 ml Warm milk
  • 20 g Unsalted butter
  • 200 g Japanese curry filling
  • 50 g Panko breadcrumbs

Steps

  1. Combine flour, yeast, sugar, salt, and warm milk. Knead until a dough forms.
  2. Add butter and knead until smooth.
  3. Let rise until doubled.
  4. Divide dough, fill with curry, and seal.
  5. Coat with panko and bake at 200°C for 15 minutes.
