Cilok Bandung (Tapioca Balls with Peanut Sauce)

Cilok is a popular bite-size snack or street food in Indonesia and it is incredibly easy to make. Boiled tapioca dough is served with delicious savory peanut sauce.
Ingredients
- 125 gr tapioca starch (1 cup 2 1/2 tsp (spoon and level please))
- 125 gr all-purpose flour (1/2 cup + 7 Tbsp (spoon and level please))
- 2 stalks scallion (green parts, finely chopped)
- 1 tsp chicken powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground white pepper
- 160 ml hot boiling water (5 1/2 fl oz, or use chicken broth for extra flavor)
- 1 tsp cooking oil
- 100 gr roasted unsalted peanuts (1/2 cup)
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 chilies (or use 1 Tbsp sambal oelek or more to taste)
- 150 ml water (5 fl oz)
- 1 Tbsp tamarind paste
- 2 Tbsp palm sugar (or coconut sugar, or more to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Kecap manis
- 1/2 tsp salt (or more to taste)
- Your favorite chili sauce (I use sriracha chili sauce)
