Chinese · Dinner · Easy · 20 min · 10 ingredients

A classic Chinese-American dish featuring tender strips of beef and crisp broccoli florets tossed in a savory ginger-garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp water
Steps
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, minced ginger, garlic, and cornstarch until smooth to create the sauce.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat until shimmering.
- Add the sliced beef in a single layer and sear until browned, about 2 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add the broccoli florets and 2 tablespoons of water. Cover with a lid and steam for 2 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the pan and pour the sauce over the mixture.
- Toss everything together for 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened and coats the beef and broccoli. Drizzle with sesame oil and serve hot over rice.
