Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

A classic Italian pasta dish featuring garlic, olive oil, and chili flakes for a simple yet flavorful meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb spaghetti
- 0.5 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 6 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 0.5 tsp red pepper flakes
- 0.25 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 0.25 cup parmesan cheese
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to package directions until al dente.
- While the pasta cooks, combine olive oil and sliced garlic in a large skillet over medium-low heat.
- Sauté the garlic until it turns golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
- Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for 30 seconds.
- Reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the cooked pasta and the reserved cooking water to the skillet with the garlic oil.
- Toss well to coat the pasta evenly, then stir in the fresh parsley.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
