Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Rich, velvety, and infused with savory garlic, these mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • 0.5 cup Whole milk or heavy cream
  • 3 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Fresh chives or parsley, chopped

Steps

  1. Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Drain the potatoes thoroughly and return them to the hot pot for 1 minute to let any remaining moisture evaporate.
  5. Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer until smooth.
  6. Gradually stir in the garlic butter and the milk/cream until the potatoes reach a creamy consistency.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
