Steamed Pork and Cabbage Dumplings

By James Rotanson

Chinese · Dinner · Medium · 40 min · 9 ingredients

Juicy pork and vegetable filling wrapped in delicate skins and steamed over a bed of cabbage for extra flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup napa cabbage, finely shredded
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 24 dumpling wrappers
  • 4-6 large cabbage leaves for steaming

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground pork, shredded cabbage, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and green onions. Mix well until the filling is tacky.
  2. Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of a dumpling wrapper.
  3. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, fold in half, and pleat the edges to seal tightly.
  4. Line a steamer basket with the large cabbage leaves to prevent the dumplings from sticking.
  5. Place the dumplings on the cabbage leaves, ensuring they do not touch each other.
  6. Steam over boiling water for 8-10 minutes until the pork is cooked through and the wrappers are translucent.
  7. Serve hot with a side of soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
