Tender chicken thighs glazed in a sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce, perfect for serving over steamed rice.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
Steps
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, 1/4 cup water, brown sugar, honey, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil.
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour the prepared sauce mixture over the chicken in the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry. Stir this into the skillet.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and beautifully glazes the chicken pieces.
- Serve hot over steamed rice and garnish with sliced green onions or sesame seeds if desired!
