Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Soft, chewy, and perfectly golden cookies loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp hot water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Dissolve the baking soda in the hot water and add it to the batter along with the salt.
- Stir in the flour and chocolate chips until just combined.
- Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the edges are nicely browned. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
